Best AirPods Yet, but Fitment Could Be Better
KevinT
I’ve owned nearly every generation of the standard Apple AirPods, and the AirPods 4 are without question the best yet in terms of quality, battery life, and features. The sound is fuller and more balanced than previous generations, and the addition of Active Noise Cancellation, Adaptive Audio, and Personalized Spatial Audio really elevates the listening experience. That said, the one area where these fall slightly short for me is fitment. For whatever reason, the original first-generation AirPods stayed in my ears the most securely. With these, I find they can slip out more easily, especially when I tilt my head or move around. The Active Noise Cancellation is also solid but not groundbreaking — which is to be expected, given these are not in-ear, sealed headphones like the Pro models or over the head ones like Pro Max. As with most Apple products, you’re not buying these for raw “value.” There are more affordable earbuds out there (like Anker’s offerings) that will get the job done for less. What you’re paying for here is the seamless convenience within the Apple ecosystem — instant pairing, smooth device switching, and features that integrate effortlessly with iPhone, iPad, and Mac. If you’re already invested in Apple devices and want the best AirPods to date, these are worth it. However, if you’re happy with your 3rd gen AirPods, I wouldn’t say the upgrade is essential unless you’re already experiencing issues like I was (my 3rd gen had reduced battery life and microphone problems).
High Quality at an Affordable Price

Bass is dramatically enhanced with these earbuds and the frequency response is very good, with crisp highs and a clear mid-range. They are very easy to install and comfortable but they can be easily knocked loose by a careless hand. The noise reduction is good but not as good as a high-grade headphone like Bosch but for earbuds, I find them quite functional. I like the feature which reduces the volume when you talk to someone, which I often do when I take my frequent walks. I would gladly buy them again.

I would have to say that these Apple Airpod 4’s, are well worth it. If you are looking for something reliable, easy to connect, and a discrete design, made comfortably to have in hours at a time, then these could be for you. I have misplaced, my AirPod Pros 2, bought last year, so this was this replacement, for that. And I have to say I’m just as happy, with less money spent. Sound quality, the pros do sound slightly better, with more bass, and depth, to the audio, but these do not lag behind, at all, whatsoever. They still sound great. The fit of the pro’s 2, did get a little rough on the ear, after a while, but these are comfortable hours on end. The active noise cancellation is there, transparency, I’m very content with this purchase.
Better and cheaper AirPod of all time with noise cancelation

Just as I expected and what I needed. Great quality and it’s better than other AirPods that I had so far. Sound quality is amazing and light weight. Design is better than the old one. Easy to connect to my iPhone and great comfort with the nice color. I got white because it looks clean and amazing.
Very good, except the way they fit.

My husband got me these and they work really well, but I don’t love how they fit in my ear. The sound is really good with these and the noise canceling works so well I don’t hear much except what I’m listening to. But if I start talking, it will lower what I’m listening to or stop it completely so I can hear myself and whoever I’m talking to. It will also turn the volume up based on how noisy it is around you. I also like how you can just tap to pause and play things as well as skip (you can set up on your phone how you like it best. One tap is skip or 2 taps is play etc) and the wireless connectivity is amazing. I just use hey siri and I can do so many things without holding my phone. Even though these are really nice, I do find that they loosen in my ears more often than I’d like so when I’m adjusting them it pauses my music because it thinks I’m tapping it. And that can get quite annoying. That being said, I still use them everyday and I think the value is worth the money
These perform well above their price point!

I cannot believe how these things sound! I have the ANC version, and I am coming from airpod pros 1st gen. I can say that the noise cancellation isn't on the level of a sealed bud obviously, but it is like putting on a pair of ear muffs. Some sounds get through, but if you turn your music up 50%, it is incredible for open back buds. It is much better for droning noises (fans, motors, etc), but it cuts out quite a bit of outside sound. Audio Quality: This is what surprises me the most. There is a surprising amount of bass feedback on these. WAY more than I expected with them being open-back. The mids and highs come in clearly, and I feel in no way do any of the tones overpower/underpower one another. It is a nice balanced sound. I think I prefer it even to my airpod pros. I got tired of the earpiece on the pro. My ears have gotten way more sensitive to earbuds with aging so these are feeling a lot more comfortable to me now. Fit: Feels great! I can tell they put a lot of effort into researching ear shapes because these things will not fall out of my ear unless I shake my head to the point of a headache, so no worries there. This may VARY greatly among owners though. Battery: Seems to be about 4-4.5 hours with ANC on. They charge back pretty quick through the case so I haven't ran into it being inconvenient since I have to take them out quite often when working so I just pop um back in the case till next use. Case: Has a speaker for Find My, and is about 2/3 the size of my airpods pro gen 1 case. It has tones that it plays for various functions, but I have not looked too deep into that. Charges available seems to be accurate to the description. Overall, if you can get these for the price I paid ($110) with the ANC, it is incredibly worth it. They are comfortable for me, the battery is adequate, and I have more assurance if I leave them somewhere or misplace them that I will be able to find them due to the case speaker. I highly recommend.
